Well BHers, I've just now started acquiring clients from offline, because I got tired of writing for peanuts on places like DP and WF. The majority of the people I find want to low ball you to $1 per 100 words and on occasion, I find people who are willing to pay $2 or $3 per 100 words but they quickly go broke and run out of work after a couple of articles. That's when they usually bring up the idea of a "joint venture" where you'll write for free and receive ad revenue or sales from their site. This happens with almost every single Warrior Forum client I've ever picked up. Not to mention the fact that they tend to take days to respond to e-mails or even up to a week to get back to you. The majority of them are in no hurry to get their content done and they're extremely picky on their content since they're cheap and can't afford to have it re-done. So I've started contacting corporate companies to offer some writing services and I've had a few replies actually. The problem I've run into is what to charge them. You see, I thought $5 per 100 words was a decent price but what one guy told me blew my mind. "I see an immediate red flag here, because you're only charging $5 per 100 words. The quality must be super poor if that's all you're charging." $5 per 100 words is way too low apparently. I'm thinking about doubling that when the next few companies contact me. What do you think? Do you have any experience writing for corporations/actual companies and what you charge them? Maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way and I shouldn't be charging by word but by content finished instead.
